Lex Hilliard Drafted by Miami Dolphins

HELENA – Two former University of Montana football players were drafted by NFL teams Sunday.

Defensive end Kroy Biermann of Hardin was chosen by Atlanta, while running back Lex Hilliard of Kalispell was taken by Miami.

Biermann, this year’s Buck Buchanan Award winner and Big Sky Conference defensive MVP, was the 19th pick in the fifth round of the draft and the 154th pick overall.

Hilliard, Montana’s No. 2 career rusher, was the 38th pick in the sixth round and the 204th pick overall.

Biermann, 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds, had 72 tackles, 18 sacks and five forced fumbles last fall for the 11-1 Griz. His 45.2 career tackles for losses and 32 career sacks are the second best in UM history.

Hilliard, 6-1 and 231, rushed for 1,132 yards and 16 touchdowns and earned all-conference honors. He holds school records with 52 total touchdowns and 50 rushing touchdowns. His 4,018 career rushing yards are the second most at UM.
