Livingston Student Teacher Dismissed for Bringing Gun to School

By Beacon Staff

LIVINGSTON – A Livingston middle school student teacher has been dismissed after she reported accidentally bringing a gun to the school.

Sleeping Giant Middle School Principal Tena Versland says the student teacher says she had brought a gun to school on two separate days in late August before school had started for the year.

Versland says the student teacher, whose name was not released, disclosed the error herself to a supervising teacher.

Nevertheless, Versland dismissed the student teacher immediately because guns are not permitted at school no matter the circumstance, intention or oversight.

She said the student teacher was enrolled at Montana State University while she was teaching at Sleeping Giant.

The Livingston Police Department is looking into the matter but no charges have been filed.
