The victim was 36-year-old William Yarck.
Authorities say Yarck had addresses in Polson, Pablo, Havre and Miles City.
Yarck was struck about 10 p.m. Monday. A husband and wife traveling in a Jeep struck Yarck and immediately reported it to emergency dispatchers.
Yarck was dead at the scene. It was undetermined why he was in the roadway.
A Lake County coroner and sheriffs deputy, Tony Buff, has ruled the death an accident.
