Man Charged in Missoula Grandmother’s Murder

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA — A 25-year-old man is charged with deliberate homicide after his grandmother was beaten to death over the weekend in Missoula.

Tyler Perry faces a deliberate homicide charge in the death of his 72-year-old grandmother Carol Perry. Prosecutors say she was beaten with a chair while she lay on a couch watching television on Saturday night.

Charging documents say Perry reportedly told a tow-truck driver that he had to kill his grandmother because “she had a third eye” and was “sucking the life out of his tyranny.” He also reportedly said that “everybody knew we had to bash her over the head.”

Court records indicate Perry had been living with his grandmother since hitchhiking to Missoula from Seattle at Thanksgiving.

Perry was scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Monday.
