Montana GOP Chairman Resigns

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Erik Iverson has resigned as chairman of the Montana Republican Party. He says it would be hard to serve as chairman and do the traveling required in his new employment with billionaire and part-time Montana resident Thomas Siebel.

State Republican Vice Chairwoman Liane Johnson, a farmer and rancher in Glacier County, will succeed Iverson at the GOP helm. Johnson intends to appoint Tim Fox of Helena to the vice chairmanship, action that will require concurrence by the Republican Party’s executive board.

Early this month, Iverson resigned as Montana Congressman Denny Rehberg’s chief of staff, to take the Siebel job.

Iverson was elected state party chairman in June 2007. He says he will remain active in the party.
