Montana Red Cross Asks for Blood and Financial Donations in Wake of Storm
Northeastern ‘superstorm’ cancels hundreds of blood drives
The Montana Red Cross is asking for blood and financial donations in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, which has ravaged much of the Northeast.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 38 people in eight states were dead and millions of people across the region were without power. Because of the storm, nearly 100 Red Cross blood drives were canceled. According to the Red Cross, the cancellations mean a loss of nearly 3,200 blood and platelet products.

“This will be a large, costly relief response and the Red Cross needs help now,” said Diane Wright, Chief Development Officer for American Red Cross of Montana. “Financial donations help the Red Cross provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those impacted by this disaster.”

The Red Cross is urging anyone in Montana who is able to donate blood to set up an appointment at www.montanaredcross.org.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
