MISSOULA — The University of Montana has an ambitious 2014 football schedule, including a game at Wyoming of the Mountain West Conference, and games on the home fields of three 2013 FCS playoff teams.
Montana athletic director Kent Haslam announced the 12-game schedule Wednesday.
The Grizzlies open their 2014 season at Wyoming on Aug. 30. They play at two-time defending FCS champion and currently top-ranked North Dakota State on Sept. 20, at Eastern Washington on Nov. 8 and at Southern Utah on Nov. 15. Montana is at North Dakota on Oct. 4 and Cal Poly on Oct. 25.
Montana has six homes, including the 114th Cat-Griz game on Nov. 22.
Other home games are against Central Washington, South Dakota, Northern Colorado, UC Davis, and Sacramento State. The Griz have a bye on Oct. 11.
Montana expects to return 14 starters and 51 lettermen from the 2013 team, which posted a 10-3 record and won seven of its final eight regular-season games.
