Snowbowl Ski Area Gets Approval to Expand

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA — The U.S. Forest Service has approved a plan by Montana Snowbowl to expand the ski area into Lolo National Forest.

The Missoulian reports that ski resort owners could start next spring clearing lift lines on more than 1,000 additional acres.

Officials say the ski area could increase the number of lifts from four to eight and increase skier capacity from 1,500 per day to 3,056.

The new area would add more beginner and intermediate terrain around TV Mountain north of Missoula.

Objections to the plan are due by Jan. 14 and can only be made by those who previously submitted comments on the project.
