HELENA — Montana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased slightly to 6.4 percent in July.

The state Labor Department says Montana lost about 700 jobs last month, compared to June, and saw the unemployment rate rise from June’s rate of 6.3 percent.

Labor Commissioner Keith Kelly says Montana has added 4,200 jobs since January and he said trends indicate the state will continue to add jobs this year.

The national unemployment rate went up from 8.2 percent in June to 8.3 percent in July.

Only Rhode Island and Idaho saw their unemployment rates decrease in July. Idaho’s unemployment rate fell to 7.5 percent, its lowest level in three years.
