Montana’s Unemployment Rate Holds Steady, Flathead’s Falls
Jobless numbers
Montana's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 6.3 percent in June.

The state Department of Labor reported the addition of 991 jobs last month, including payroll jobs, the self-employed and agricultural workers. The state has added nearly 9,800 jobs over the past year.

Labor Commissioner Keith Kelly said Friday that growth in payroll jobs is being offset by government job losses.

The national unemployment rate held steady at 8.2 percent in June.

Meanwhile, Flathead County’s non-seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell for the third straight month to 8.5 percent, 0.7 percentage points lower than a month prior. June’s mark is also 2.9 percentage points lower than the same month last year.
