Nate Montana Leaving Grizzlies Football

MISSOULA – Montana football coach Mick Delaney says backup quarterback Nate Montana has decided to transfer to an NCAA Division II football team with the hope of getting more playing time.

Delaney says the son of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana asked for a waiver as a fifth-year senior transfer and is going to play at West Virginia Wesleyan.

Montana played in nine games for the Grizzlies last season, completing 26 of 42 passes for 274 yards and a two touchdowns.

Montana came to UM last spring from Notre Dame.
