New Documentary Explores Conservation and Development in Montana

By Beacon Staff

The Center for Western Priorities, a Denver-based think tank that focuses on environmental policies and practices, recently debuted its first documentary film, “Balance Under the Big Sky.”

The 27-minute video explores the energy boom in Eastern Montana and examines the unique collaboration to balance resources and protection along the Rocky Mountain Front, as well as the North Fork of the Flathead River.

The program features several Montana residents, including Sen. Max Baucus, who discuss the challenges and successes of working across party lines to balance resource development with land protection across Montana, according to the Center for Western Priorities.

The documentary is currently airing on TV stations across Montana.

“’Balance Under the Big Sky’ takes folks on a journey across Montana for an honest discussion about where we are, where we’ve been and where we’re going when it comes to natural resources,” said Trevor Kincaid, executive director of the nonprofit Center for Western Priorities. “We’re excited to share this discussion with all Montanans because it’s so important to our future.”
