No Confirmed Cases of Swine Flu in Montana So Far

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Montana health officials say there are no confirmed cases of swine flu in the state as of Sunday.

The U.S. has declared a public health emergency in response to the recent swine flu outbreak centered in Mexico, where dozens apparently have been killed by the illness. Twenty cases have been confirmed in the U.S., but those cases have all been mild.

Jon Ebelt, a spokesman for the Montana Department of Health and Human Services, says state health officials are watching the situation as it develops and have been keeping in touch with federal health officials this weekend.
