Panel Nominates Four for Supreme Court Seat

By Beacon Staff

HELENA — The state’s Judicial Nomination Commission has submitted the names of three attorneys and a judge to Gov. Steve Bullock as candidates for a Montana Supreme Court vacancy.

The commission on Tuesday nominated attorneys Elizabeth Brennan of Missoula, Amy Eddy of Kalispell and Patrick Watt of Great Falls, along with Montana Workers’ Compensation Court Judge Jim Shea of Helena.

Bullock must make an appointment within 30 days after receiving the nominees.

He is filling the seat vacated by Brian Morris, who resigned to become a U.S. District judge.

The person Bullock chooses will take a place on the high court but must be confirmed by voters in the 2016 elections.

The candidate elected then will serve until 2021.
