HELENA (AP) – A parole hearing for a Kalispell man convicted of running over two men on a bicycle in 1978 has been postponed until March, said Fern Osler, a parole analyst in Billings.
Jacob H. Woods, 45, was scheduled to appear before the Montana Board of Pardons and Parole this week.
Woods was convicted of two counts of murder in 1981 for the deaths of 17-year-old Ronald Johnson and 21-year-old Phillip Kessner.
Court records say the men owed Woods money for drugs and that he drove into them while they were riding a bicycle on U.S. 93 near the Kalispell airport.
Johnson and Kessner were discovered on the side of the road the next day and taken to the hospital; one was dead on arrival, the other died about a half-hour later.
Woods was arrested in Oklahoma more than two years later after authorities received a tip.
