Flathead senior Zach Perrin became only the second Montana prep runner to ever finish in the top 10 at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships National Finals in San Diego.

Perrin placed 10th with a time of 15:32 and earned All-American honors at the 34th annual event on Saturday. Ed Cheserek, a senior from Newark, New Jersey, won the 5-kilometer race for the second year in a row. He finished in 14:59.

The only other Montana runner to place in the top 10 at the prestigious race is former Flathead standout Seth Watkins. Watkins earned ninth in 2000, clocking 15:16.

Perrin won the Montana Class AA cross country state title this fall. He placed eighth at the West Regional Foot Locker Cross Country Championships race last week.

Glacier senior Troy Fraley placed 18th in 15:42 at the final race.

Bigfork sophomore Makena Morley placed 24th in the girls race, clocking 18:12. Anna Rohrer, a sophomore from Mishawaka, Ind., won in 17:25.

Missoula senior Paige Gilchrist finished 29th, 18:23.
