Photos: Inversion Hangs Over Flathead Valley
Whitefish Mountain Resort
An inversion hangs over the Flathead Valley as skiers are greeted with sunny skies at Whitefish Mountain Resort on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014. On inversion days the temperature gradient is turned upside down, and so is the season, as a large warm air mass rises over the top of the cold air below, leaving the town trapped in winter while the sun-bathed summit of Big Mountain basks in a secret season.
