Places: Sledding at Dry Bridge Park
Kalispell

Put your fear aside and get ready for some serious speed while sledding at Dry Bridge Park in Kalispell.

Between Woodland Avenue and Dry Bridge Pond, ridges of unassuming slopes face each other, creating a small valley. At first glance, the terrain seems harmless. Yet when you’re waiting at the top of the hill or barreling down in a flurry of snow, the speed is surprising.

All ages congregate at the park, from the kids who have yet to learn the meaning of fear, to adults who are either brave or foolish.

There are different levels of slopes ranging, from easy-going to tsunami. Inevitably, a jump is made at the bottom of one or more runs where the biggest air and crashes seem to occur.

The best part about the park is its proximity to downtown Kalispell and the lack of obstacles. Other sledding hills in the area contain at least one or two obstructions that can impede the path or create hazardous situations. The only obstacles at Dry Bridge Park are the patrons trying to make it back up the hill to go again.

How to get there: From downtown Kalispell, go south on U.S. Highway 93. Turn east on 11th Street East. The park is at the corner of 11th Street East and Woodland Avenue.
