12:34 a.m. A stolen silver Subaru Outback with Idaho plates was found wrecked west of Kalispell. It’s not clear where the vehicle was stolen from.
5:30 a.m. Just before sunrise a suspicious woman was spotted looking for something on the west side of Kalispell. It turned out that she was trying to find a ride.
8:53 a.m. A man called in to report that someone tried to enter his hotel room using a key last night. The man said things were resolved when he got up and shut the door.
9:37 a.m. Someone tried to break into a Fireworks stand in Evergreen.
9:41 a.m. Again in Evergreen someone tried to break into a fireworks stand. This time they succeeded, cut the lock, and escaped with $767 in stolen loot.
12:26 p.m. A 22-year old woman was chased down and then bitten by a dog on the thigh.
1:43 p.m. Four unaccompanied horses were spotted leisurely walking down a road south of Kalispell. A warden responded and the horses were returned to pasture without incident.
2:02 p.m. A woman called in to report that she couldn’t find her husband. Soon thereafter, she found him asleep in his truck near a Somers boat launch. When the woman approached the vehicle the man awoke, startled and in a haze, telling her that he’d taken all the guns from their home. The man said he would come home later to take care of the kids.
2:27 p.m. The paws of four Labrador retrievers were found to be in good shape after a concerned woman called animal control. The woman was worried that the dogs’ feet would burn on the concrete.
3:33 p.m. A 17-year old girl biffed it on her skateboard. She was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center and treated for a broken arm.
3:44 p.m. Styrofoam flew out of the bed of a dump truck headed toward the landfill.
5:38 p.m. Someone in the Bigfork area called in to report that a black bear was dumpster diving. The caller wasn’t sure what the bear was after.
6:28 p.m. A dog picked the wrong deer to chase and was subsequently kicked.
6:34 p.m. There was another civil dispute in the canyon between a drunkard and his girlfriend. This time the belligerent man had taken the couple’s child. Police are still looking for the suspect.
7:51 p.m. A man called in to report that a sadistic dog had entered his yard and jumped on his granddaughter. The girl was not injured.
8:33 p.m. Some impish children were setting off sparkler bombs.
10:22 p.m. A concerned person in Bigfork called Fish Wildlife and Parks to report a black bear with an injured front paw. The bear, though unidentified, was in the same area where a caller had earlier spotted a bear looking for treats in the trash.
10:37 p.m. Some kids were throwing fireworks into the back of a truck that had a gas can in it.
10:45 p.m. A drunken man managed to make some garbled threats before he was asked to leave a local business.
11:13 p.m. Someone on the east side of Kalispell called in to report that kids were playing with fireworks.
11:16 p.m. There was another complaint of kids setting off fireworks.
11:29 p.m. A caller thought kids were shooting guns near Lower Valley Road in Kalispell. When law enforcement arrived the kids were gone, but they found that they had set mailboxes on fire, which in turn had caused a field to catch ablaze. Low and behold, firework paraphernalia was left behind.
The departments responded to 209 calls for service.
