Police Blotter: Unusual House Guests

The Kalispell Police and Flathead County Sheriff’s reports for Wednesday included the following:

7:44 a.m. A car hit a bicyclist on Woodland Avenue. The biker was transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with a possible broken arm.

8:08 a.m. An aggressive burglar kicked in the door and stole some tools out of a house that was under construction for a remodel in Whitefish.

10:44 a.m. The Bigfork Bay Gift Shop reported two broken windows but nothing stolen.

12:10 p.m. An inmate in the detention center head-butted another inmate because he was talking too loudly and disturbing his sleep.

1:51 p.m. Someone called the Sheriff’s Department when they saw horses, chickens and other animals walking in and out of an open screen door at a residence on U.S. Highway 2. Deputies spoke to the owners of the home and they were OK with their unusual house guests.

3:04 p.m. A man came in to a convenience store in Bigfork to redeem a lottery ticket. The lottery ticked had not been activated, which means that it had been stolen. The store then realized that two rolls of 100 lottery tickets had been stolen.

5:08 p.m. A woman called the Sheriff’s Department when a man spit in her face and then took her child, who he claimed he had custody over.

6:25 p.m. A resident on Kuzmic Lane in Coram called about three Grizzlies tearing up his flowerbeds.

7:13 p.m. A man called about someone who had knocked over a chair he had mounted to a stump.

8:00 p.m. Someone called when the saw a “very large” black bear wandering around Western States Insurance in Bigfork.

9:21 p.m. Residents on River Place called about a gray sports car that pulled up and smashed out their back window with a skateboard.

11:52 p.m. A woman called about her “drunk and controlling” boyfriend trying to tear the window off her car while she was trying to drive away. The man was gone when deputies arrived.

The departments responded to 180 calls for service.
