The Whitefish Police Department has canceled its search for John Marshall Denny after finding his body in the Whitefish River.

Denny, 25, was last seen alive leaving his residence in the middle of the day on Tuesday. Authorities found his body in the Whitefish River on Feb. 22, about 200 yards east of the Columbia Avenue Bridge.

A helicopter dispatched to search along the river spotted Denny's body in about three feet of water, according to the WPD.

The Flathead County coroner is investigating the death, but WPD has stated there is nothing so far that indicates foul play.

Whitefish police were assisted by Flathead County Search and Rescue and the Flathead County Sherriff’s Office.
