Police Identify Polson Stabbing Victim, Suspect
Polson resident John Pierre died early Saturday after he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital
MISSOULA — Lake County authorities have identified the victim and the suspect in a fatal stabbing over the weekend in Polson.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department says 26-year-old Polson resident John Pierre died early Saturday after he was taken to St. Joseph Hospital.

Authorities say 32-year-old Makueeyapeh Whitford of Browning was located at a motel within an hour of the 911 call and taken into custody.

Whitford is charged with deliberate homicide.

Sheriff's department spokeswoman Karen Sargeant tells the Missoulian the motive for the stabbing is not known but alcohol was involved.

The stabbing is still under investigation.
