Polson Man Convicted of Deliberate Homicide

By Beacon Staff

POLSON — A Polson man has been convicted of killing another man at Wild Horse Hot Springs, just outside the town of Hot Springs.

KERR-AM reports that jurors deliberated about two hours Saturday before finding 30-year-old Melvin Madplume Jr. guilty of deliberate homicide.

Madplume was originally charged with sexual intercourse without consent and deliberate homicide in the May 26 death of 28-year-old Laurence Kenmille of Elmo.

An autopsy determined Kenmille drowned due to homicidal violence. Madplume was convicted of deliberate homicide because he caused the death of another person during the commission of a forcible felony.

Madplume’s sentencing is tentatively set for March 28 following a psychosexual evaluation.
