MISSOULA – A 30-year-old Polson man has been ordered to pay $4,300 in restitution for charging gasoline purchases to stolen government credit cards.
John S. Jarvis also received a five-year probationary sentence Thursday from U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy.
Jarvis pleaded guilty to theft of government money.
Prosecutors say from January through July of 2008, Jarvis worked at an auto repair shop. During that time, he fraudulently used government credit cards obtained from government vehicles that had been dropped off for service. Prosecutors say he used six credit cards and charged $4,383 in fuel in 72 transactions.
