Post Office Punches and Census Scare

8:11 a.m. After stealing a Bigfork resident’s mail, someone thoughtlessly tore it up and tossed it into a ditch.

11:09 a.m. A wallet was stolen from a residence on Cottonwood Drive.

12:56 p.m. A Bigfork resident reported receiving threats over the telephone.

1:14 p.m. 30 cows were spotted wandering out and about along Star Meadows Road.

1:46 p.m. The Marion Post Office was the unlikely scene of one man punching another man.

2:31 p.m. A woman was reportedly feeling “despondent” in the Coram area.

3:00 p.m. The family of a 15-year-old boy reported that a dog had attacked him on Saturday while he was bicycling on Whalebone Drive.

3:25 p.m. Someone violated his restraining order by trying to contact a person in North Dakota.

3:29 p.m. A gun was reported missing from a residence on Ashley Lake Road.

3:39 p.m. When a strange person appeared at the front door of a residence located west of Kalispell, the homeowner pretended not to be home. The stranger went to the garage, where he “might have taken something.” The homeowner took down the stranger’s license plate number and called the authorities who determined the person was a census worker.

4:14 p.m. A man was observed hitting the inside of his car, frightening his female passenger as they drove through Columbia Falls.

5:43 p.m. A Four Mile Drive resident called to discuss the ongoing problem of her neighbor’s dogs killing her chickens.

6:00 p.m. Someone’s pet wolf attacked a dog in Polebridge. The animal warden went to investigate.

7:15 p.m. A vehicle parked at the Teakettle Boat Launch was broken into and several items might have been removed.

7:52 p.m. Two women were spotted a smoking marijuana-like substance while sitting inside a vehicle in Bigfork. Deputies were unable to locate them.

8:24 p.m. Deputies have reason to believe that a verbal argument amongst a family in the Smith lake Road area was caused by alcohol.

10:57 p.m. A vehicle was parked in from of a school in Somers with its door propped open. A witness said it appeared that the driver “was sick.” The vehicle was gone when deputies arrived.

11:46 a.m. A Hungry Horse resident reported that his neighbors were fighting and yelling and that the woman was armed with a rolling pin. Deputies separated the couple for the night.
