Presidential Candidate Ron Paul Speaks in Missoula

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA – Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul spoke against the Iraq war, the Patriot Act and big government in a speech to 1,000 people at the University of Montana.

The 72-year-old Paul touched on many of his libertarian themes Monday night as he spoke in the University Center Ballroom. His message of individual freedom and fiscal responsibility was vigorously applauded.

The Texas Republican congressman said he doesn’t expect to win the GOP nomination, nor will he endorse the man who almost certainly will, John McCain.

Paul said he will not run as a third-party candidate, as he did for almost 20 years on the Libertarian ticket.
