Readers to the Rescue Raises $2,000 for Samaritan House
This year 1,600 children and teenagers participated in the summer reading program
This year 1,600 children and teenagers participated in the Flathead County Library System's Summer Reading Program. Those readers logged more than 28,000 hours. Besides urging kids to read more, this great program raises money for a local charity.

This year the Readers to the Rescue program, which is part of the summer program, raised $2,000 for the Samaritan House, the local homeless shelter and transitional living organization. The donation was presented on Tuesday at the Kalispell library.

Congratulations to all the readers on a job well done!

The Flathead County Library System has its main library in Kalispell and branches in Bigfork, Columbia Falls and Marion. FCLS offers books, movies, music, audiobooks, and downloadable ebooks and audiobooks, as well as public computers and wireless Internet access. FCLS offers regularly scheduled programs for children and teens.

@NPDXReporter I think I'll start strategically calling it "pre-lunch" too, and then "forget" to eat my real lunch later. #dessertforlunch
