Recently Evicted Woman Found Dead in Hamilton
61-year-old woman appears to have died of exposure
HAMILTON – A woman who was recently evicted from her apartment has been found dead behind a grocery store in Hamilton.

Police Chief Ryan Oster says the 61-year-old woman appears to have died of exposure. Her body was taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy.

Oster says the woman was evicted from her apartment on Feb. 7, was reported missing on Feb. 11 and was found Sunday.

Officers have spoken to someone who had contact with the woman on Feb. 8. Temperatures fell to minus 4 on the 8th, while more than 7 inches of snow fell on the 8th and 9th.

A man who had been walking in the area behind the store found the woman's body near some bushes around noon Sunday.

The woman's name was being withheld until family members could be notified.
