Hunt tops Rehberg in Quarter Fundraising

Rehberg Reports Much Larger War Chest Than Opponent

HELENA – Democrat Jim Hunt topped incumbent Congressman Denny Rehberg in this quarter's campaign finance reports.

Hunt, who entered the race in February, reported raising about $133,000. Rehberg, a Republican, reported raising about $107,000.

But Rehberg, who has been raising money since last year, reported a much larger war chest.

The incumbent has more than half a million dollars on hand, compared with the $115,000 Hunt had left at the end of the quarter.

Hunt is touting his experience as an Army National Guard officer, avid sportsmen and Helena lawyer as he tries to unseat Rehberg.

U.S. Sen. Max Baucus reported another huge fundraising quarter in his race, stocking away another $1 million. His Republican challengers have so far raised little in comparison.
