Reservations Open for State Park System

By Beacon Staff

MISSOULA — Reservations for more than 500 campsites in 20 of Montana’s 54 state parks are open for the 2013 season.

The campsites can be reserved by phone or online. The advanced reservation system is now in its third year.

Montana State Parks administer Chas Van Genderen tells the Missoulian the program has been a great success.

More than 10,000 advance reservations were made last year.

An advance reservation for a campsite adds $10 to the cost, which is $15 per night for residents and $23 per night for nonresidents.

The parks hold back about a quarter of the campsites for first-come, first-served visitors.
