Retirement Magazine Features Flathead Valley and its ‘Wild Beauty’

By Beacon Staff

Sitting on a beach reading a magazine about great places to retire is a dream I can’t even dream about yet.

For those fortunate souls, there is such a magazine, called Where to Retire, and this month’s issue features none other than the Flathead Valley.

“The communities that make up Flathead Valley appeal to retirees and boomers seeking to trade congested city life for open spaces and outdoor splendor,” Where to Retire editor Mary Lu Abbott said in a news release. “The wild beauty of this part of Montana easily captures their hearts, with its lakes and mountains setting the stage for all kinds of recreation, including fishing, swimming, hiking, biking and skiing. Art galleries, museums and the local college add learning and cultural opportunities.”

Where to Retire profiles the Flathead in the September/October issue, on newsstands Aug. 14. The magazine is geared toward retirees pondering a change of scenery and touts a 200,000 nationwide circulation.

Each year 700,000 Americans relocate to new towns to retire, according to the magazine.
