HELENA — State wildlife officials investigating the shooting death of a female grizzly bear near Ovando say the reward for information in the case is now up to $7,600.

The bear was found dead on Nov. 3 northeast of Ovando. She had three cubs of the year. Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials were able to trap two of the cubs and they will be transferred to the Bronx Zoo. Multiple attempts to capture the third bear were unsuccessful.

FWP says private donations and $1,000 from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helped bolster the $1,000 reward offered by the agency’s TIP-MONT program. Anyone with information about the bear’s shooting is asked to call 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668).
