Reward Offered in Killing of Two Wolves in Flathead

By Beacon Staff

Federal wildlife agents are offering a $2,500 reward for information about the apparent shooting deaths of two gray wolves in northwestern Montana’s Flathead National Forest.

Killing wolves in the Northern Rockies is a violation of the Endangered Species Act.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the wolves’ carcasses were found in the Flathead National Forest on Nov. 6 — one in the Miller Creek area and one along Coal Creek. Both appeared to have died as a result of gunshot wounds.

The reward is for information leading to the identification and prosecution of the person or persons involved in the shootings. Contact the Fish and Wildlife Service in Great Falls at (406) 761-2286.
