Roberts Ranked Atop All-Class Wrestling Poll

Columbia Falls wrestler Shonn Roberts, the reigning Class A state champion at 98 pounds, is ranked atop his weight class in the All-Class High School Wrestling Poll released yesterday.

Roberts is the state’s top ranked 112-pound wrestler.

Flathead’s Jacob Egley is the second ranked wrestler at 160 pounds.

Glacier has three wrestlers in the top four. Lucas Mantel is fourth at 135 pounds. Jackson Barber is fourth at 160 pounds. Dawson Day is fourth at 171 pounds.

Zach Durden of Eureka is ranked fourth at 119 pounds.

The law firm of Hoyt and Blewett in Great Falls and Montana Recruiter Wrestling Magazine released the poll. The rankings were generated with input from high school wrestling coaches from around the state. Class B/C leads the state with seven top ranked wrestlers. For the seventh year in a row, Zander Blewett with Hoyt and Blewett will award $1,000 scholarships to the top high school wrestlers in each class.

The Blewett Wrestling Scholarship awards $1,000 to the single wrestler in Class AA, A and B/C who displays the best combined qualities of wrestling and academic achievement. The award will go to one senior high school wrestler in each class around Montana who best qualifies. Applicants do not need to win a state championship to qualify.

Blewett and his sons Anders and Drew are also sponsor and organize the annual Tournament of Champions, an all-star wrestling event featuring the state’s top grapplers.
