RONAN – A 21-year-old Marine from Ronan was critically injured by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

The details were initially sketchy, but it appears Lance Cpl. Thomas Parker lost his right leg, his left leg above the kneecap and all or part of his left hand. The Missoulian reports he also has shrapnel wounds to his eye and arms.

His mother, Lisa Jennison, learned the news on Saturday morning and was flying to Bethesda, Md., Tuesday to be with her son.

The 2008 graduate of Ronan High School had been home on leave two months ago.
