Schweitzer Hires New Chief of Staff

By Beacon Staff

HELENA – Gov. Brian Schwietzer’s office says the governor’s chief of staff is leaving to head the Montana Farm Service Agency.

Bruce Nelson was appointed to the new post by President Barack Obama. Nelson had been in the governor’s office since 2005, and goes back to a job that he previously held running the state FSA.

Schweitzer says he has picked Department of Labor lead counsel Vivian Hammill, 54, to be his new chief of staff.

The governor says she is uniquely qualified and will be a tremendous asset to me and the people of Montana.

Hammill’s will be paid $99,869 per year.
