POLITICO surveyed Republicans across the country in an attempt to gauge support for former Alaska governor and vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin outside the beltway. According to the story, “despite Palin’s high negative ratings in recent national polls, Republicans at the grass-roots level and their leaders still hold a very favorable impression of the former Alaska governor. Westerners have a particular affinity for Palin, with many noting that she embodied the values of freedom and self-reliance.”
In Montana, Bozeman Republican and House Minority Leader Scott Sales had this to say about Palin, according to the interactive map accompanying the story:
“She does have, in my opinion, a large amount of curb appeal in a state like Montana. I think she should be part of the discourse and part of the process. I don’t think she’s ready for prime time quite yet, but prime time’s three years away.”
