Second Challenger Announces Intention to Run for Rehberg’s House Seat
U.S. House Race
HELENA – Missoula lawyer Tyler Gernant says he wants the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House seat held by Republican Denny Rehberg.
Gernant has announced he will be a candidate in the 2010 primary election. Montana Democratic Chairman Dennis McDonald, a Melville rancher, announced last month that he will seek his party's nomination for the House.
Rehberg has indicated he will seek a sixth term.
Gernant says his campaign will focus on reducing the national debt, changing the tax code and fostering a clean energy industry.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and a law degree from the University of Montana. His background includes congressional internships, one with Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont.
