Sidney police say Robert M. Escobedo was arrested early Sunday morning after a standoff that lasted about 90 minutes. He is accused of breaking into his ex-wife's home and shooting 40-year-old Sidney resident Michael Shy with a .22-caliber handgun. Shy and Escobedo's ex-wife managed to escape from the home.
Police arrested Escobedo after he either intentionally or accidentally shot himself in the foot. He was taken to a local hospital and will be transported to Richland County Jail after he is treated. Shy remains in fair condition at a Billings hospital.
Escobedo was arrested on suspicion of two felony counts of aggravated assault with a weapon and one felony count aggravated burglary with a weapon.
