Skiers Rescued After Avalanche in Glacier Park
Slide was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday near Elk Mountain
WEST GLACIER — Search crews rescued two skiers from Glacier National Park after an avalanche partially buried one of the men.

Park officials told KCFW-TV that the man's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The avalanche was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday near Elk Mountain, just west of Marias Pass. Park staff believe the skiers triggered the slide.

By 7 p.m., the injured man was on the way to the hospital and the other one was on his way home. Both men are Montana residents in their mid-30s.

Glacier National Park officials remind visitors to check avalanche conditions and make sure they have the proper gear and skills when heading into the backcountry. On Tuesday, the Flathead Avalanche Advisory said the risk of avalanche was "considerable," with human-triggered avalanches likely.
