EXPLORE: Skiing in Northwest Montana

By Beacon Staff

As we enter March, the number of weekends to hit the slopes is dwindling. Luckily for skiers and snowboarders in Northwest Montana, there are three great locations to get out and search for snow.

Whitefish Mountain Resort on Big Mountain is undoubtedly the most popular ski area in Northwest Montana.

Located just north of Whitefish, the mountain has nearly 100 runs on 3,000 acres of land for everyone from beginners to experts.

An adult lift ticket is $67 a day. There are also various rates for kids, teens and seniors.

Further south, along Flathead Lake is Blacktail Mountain in Lakeside.

The ski area is located on more than 1,000 acres of Forest Service land. Full day passes for adults are $36 and the mountain is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Finally, over in Lincoln County, Turner Mountain offers what Ski Magazine called some of “the best lift-assisted powder skiing in the U.S.” Located on Pipe Creek Road north of Libby, the mountain is open Friday through Saturday. Lift tickets for adults are $37.
