Members of Montana's Army National Guard head to Afghanistan
Family and friends filled a hanger at Glacier Jet Center to shed tears, share laughs and say goodbyes as the Montana Army National Guard’s 495th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion began its year-long deployment to Afghanistan on Nov. 6. The 60 soldiers boarded a commercial airplane headed to Fort Hood, Texas, for six weeks of training and then a year in Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
