Snowmobiler Dies After Hitting Chain Across Road
Sheriff says the death appears to be an accident
MISSOULA – Authorities in western Montana say a snowmobiler has died after running into a chain strung across a road in hills northeast of Helmville.

Powell County Sheriff Scott Howard tells the Missoulian the man's body was brought out of the woods by the county's search and rescue team after the incident was reported about 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

Howard says the death appears to be an accident. He says the man was going down a road and apparently didn't know about the cable, and appears to have died of severe chest and abdominal injuries.

Howard says an autopsy is planned. The man's name has not been released.
