Ty Morgan scored a game-high 19 points, Jared Trinastich had nine and the Columbia Falls Wildcats walloped Havre 50-36 in the first round of the Class A state basketball tournament in Great Falls on Thursday.
Grant Wallace added eight points and Alex Presnell chipped in six as Columbia Falls jumped ahead 18-8 at halftime.
The Wildcats (17-4) play Laurel (19-2) at 6:30 p.m., Friday in the semifinals. The winner advances to the championship game at 8 p.m., Saturday.
Laurel defeated defending state champs Stevensville 61-41 in the state opener. Tyler Thompson scored 19 points and Taylor Maida added 11 points for the Locomotives.
Dillon (18-2) plays Miles City (7-14) tonight at 6:30 p.m. Polson (7-15) takes on Belgrade (14-6) at 8 p.m.
