Strong Winds Knock Out Power Across the Valley

By Beacon Staff

Strong winds downed trees onto power lines Monday night, causing power outages across the Flathead Valley. The storm, with gusting winds up to 50 mph, knocked power out of the Badrock and West Glacier substations, according to a Flathead Electric Cooperative press release, and much of the canyon area remained without power for five hours.

Parts of Essex and some areas west of Kalispell remained without power Tuesday morning.

The first power outages were reported just after 4 p.m. in the Kila area and were also reported in the Swan Lake, Echo Lake, Bigfork and Lakeside areas, according to FEC. Crews continued to make repairs Tuesday morning.
