Two Grizzlies Caught East of Kalispell and Relocated
The two young male grizzly bears killed eight chickens and were caught on May 16
Two young male grizzly bears that killed eight chickens were caught on May 16 near Lake of the Woods off LaBrant Road east of Kalispell.
Tim Manley, grizzly bear management specialist for Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, said the 2-1/2 year old bears likely were siblings recently on their own. The two bears weighed 167 and 176 pounds, respectively.
The bears had been seen in a residential area for a few days, according to FWP. They had crawled under a fence and killed eight chickens. Manley set two culvert traps and caught the bears the evening of May 16.
The grizzlies were released on May 17 in the Trout Lake area along Hungry Horse Reservoir in the South Fork Flathead drainage.
