Unlocked Vehicles, Easy Targets

Monday 8/30

6:09 a.m. A King’s Way resident called in to report that his wife had just confronted a man going through her car. Upon confrontation, the intruder leaped over numerous backyard fences and escaped. Nothing was missing from the car.

8:59 a.m. An iPod charger was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Mountain Drive.

9:57 a.m. There was a report of a cow-at-large in Whitefish.

10:05 a.m. An XM Radio was stolen out of another unlocked vehicle, this one on Parkside Drive in Kalispell.

11:54 a.m. Two bickering male ex-roommates argued over property. Deputies helped them figure out their mess.

12:13 p.m. A GPS unit was stolen out of a vehicle on West Reserve.

12:15 p.m. Someone called in from Easy Drive to report that something of theirs was taken out of their trailer a few months ago.

12:50 p.m. Tools worth $300 were stolen from a residence on King’s Way.

5:43 p.m. Someone called in from Kalispell to report that it looked like someone had gone through their glove-box but that nothing had gone missing.

6:05 p.m. Someone called in to report that a few days ago when they were at a grocery store in Kalispell they may have inadvertently met a murderer from Utah. The reporting party claimed that the man smelled like booze, had dark skin and scruffy hair. He was also trying to show her some art. Said fugitive was arrested on the 29th of last month.

9:47 p.m. Two diamond rings, $30 in cash and a book of stamps were stolen from a home on Lake Blaine Road. The woman reported that when she left the house the doors were locked but when she returned they were suspiciously unlocked.

1:51 a.m. A drunk on bicycle yelled and screamed at people on Highway 2 East. He was told to leave the area.

2:17 a.m. The drunk returned on his bike for more yelling and was taken to jail.

5:05 a.m. A bruised and battered man on Highway 2 East claimed that his wife beat him up. The neighbors who witnessed the fight also said that the woman did the damage. The wife said, yes, she had beat him up. She was taken to jail.
