Governor says he's in New York to promote tourism
Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, who appears on the "Late Show with David Letterman" tonight, parked a tractor-trailer in Times Square Tuesday and handed out beef jerky and huckleberry jam. Schweitzer says his trip to the Big Apple to promote tourism is timely because United Airlines begins offering direct flights from Newark to Bozeman on June 9.

Brilliant promotional effort. Lot’s of buzz. The governor deserves credit for taking to the streets of New York with such enthusiasm. It sure beats our state’s last mention on national TV: the proposed law to create a season for spear hunting.
