Wardens Investigate Another Grizzly Bear Shooting
Wardens discovered a dead grizzly bear May 16 near Sanko Creek northwest of Kalispell
Federal wildlife officers are investigating the shooting death of a grizzly bear outside of Kalispell.

Wardens discovered a dead grizzly bear May 16 near Sanko Creek in the Star Meadows area northwest of Kalispell. An investigation revealed the light colored bear died from a gunshot wound, according to Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The case was turned over to U.S. Fish and Wildlife for further investigation.

Anyone with any information is urged to call 1-800-TIPMONT, or contact FWP Warden Chris Crane at 406-249-6231. Callers can remain anonymous and a reward may be available.

This is the second grizzly bear that has been shot in the Flathead Valley in recent weeks. A grizzly bear specialist with FWP discovered an injured male grizzly on May 4 during a monitoring flight by Wolf Creek Drive and Highway 83 near the Swan River. The collared bear was dragging its hind quarters and needed to be euthanized, according to FWP.
