Where’s Bree? Trudging Through Washington

By Beacon Staff

Since embarking on her epic adventure along the Pacific Crest Trail in May, Bree Fuqua has logged 2,200 miles.

She is continuing onward through the dense forests of Washington and recently ascended 7,000 feet of elevation climbing out of the Columbia River Gorge. Through 91 days, she hiked 2,198.5 miles, including 26.5 on Aug. 4. She enjoyed time with friends who joined for some hikes past waterfalls and other green scenery through Oregon and Washington, including the Mount Hood Wilderness. On July 31 she tied her record for most miles hiked in one day with 33. She has also been sharing time with other hikers who are also crossing the long scenic trail that spans 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada.

Bree said she is mentally and physically tired, but the end is in sight. She is attempting to make it home in time for school, which begins at the end of the month. But she’s also staying true to her dream and appreciating each moment on the trail.

Go Bree!
